JM Kwak Scholarship

John Michael (JM) Kwak was one of our EM residents at Our Program from 2015-2017. JM passed away on August 29, 2017 after fighting a long and courageous battle with melanoma. 

JM was one of our most beloved residents of all time. He had that magical ability to make you feel as if you had known each other all your lives. He made us want to become better doctors and just in general, better human beings. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a strong desire to share his cultivated skills with everyone. Having been raised in multiple countries growing up, he believed that the exchange of ideas through diversity strengthened every person and was passionate about global medicine.

To honor of his memory, the Kwak family established a fund that would help alleviate some of the financial burdens that are associated with traveling abroad during residency. It is our hope to it will be used to spread his spirit throughout the world.
